Dasavatharam
Kamal's movie after 2 long years. That too story,screenplay and dialog by himself. Anyone who is sincere follower of kamal , would have felt, its going to be another good treat like "MMKR", "Avvai Shanmughi", "Hey Ram", "Anbe Sivam" , and etc.
After seeing the whole movie , i felt, something is really missing , which I didnt felt in his previous movies. After much introspection , i felt that it is the makeup ... which is a positive point in all his previous movies but only to some extent in this movie .. to me .. 3 characters like "Balram Naidu", "Poovaraghavan" , and "Nambi" came out really good. But all the other characters / getups ... is not down to earth and not at all acceptable to me ... He shouldn't have hidden his face under those fake face coverings.To some extent , he could have avoided it..
He should have shown differences in 10 different getups, dialog delivery , body language & mannerisms like he already did in MMKR without those artificial face coverings .
As an alternative to Malayali character in MMKR , this time he had tried out with Telugu character as "Balram Naidu" which is very welcome change. But i felt , he should have improvised on it with lot more funny moments. That too missing .. may be paying price to the dragging screenplay.
His strong point .. He is very much strong in dialog delivery in different slangs of tamil .. which we already seen in "Sathi Leelavathy" ( Coimbatore ) , "Thenali" ( ilangai ) , "Avvai Shanmughi" (Maami tamil) , "Maharasan" , ( Chennai Tamil ) , "Virumandi" ( Madhurai tamil) , MMKR ( Malayali ) .. like wise he should have thought and exhibited his acting talent in those 10 different characters.
If he did like that, To me , that is the real talent and we can all praise him as the fitting "Universal hero" ..
Though he is capable of doing that .. i dont know what happened ... in the initial planning ... someone , may be K.S.Ravikumar, might have confused him with those stupid face covering makeups like he did in Avvai Shanmughi.
To sum up , Dasavatharam is an horrible attempt just to make (Navarathri:Sivaji) 9 + 1 = 10 which is not at all accpetable from the legend.
Was going in my mind to write it out .. so came this blog.
