ANGADI THERU -- REVIEW
Recently I came to see this tamil movie, 'ANGADI THERU'.
Reality based fused with love story. Love always has the main stage in every tamil movie. I think, in this movie, its been used to show the atrocities of Saravana Stores and ofcourse to move the screenplay thereby adding the commercial value of the movie.
Movie like 'Angadi Theru' should be welcomed. To handle the subject on Saravana Stores / Murugan dresses / Pothys which is very close to public , I think, it needs more courage. I feel , after this we should make a full stop to all crappy unrealistic stereotyped love story movies like 'Masuru Thaandi Mayiru Vaaya' and etc. I expect, many more movies showing the real life feelings should be showcased.
I feel , Film makers have greater responsibility in setting the mood of any society. That too, in our Indian society, it holds a very crucial part.
Although I liked most part of this movie, I didn't like the ending. What they've showed as end is, these lovers met with an accident and failed to live successfully after facing lot of difficulties from the store rules and owner. But I feel , that is not a perfect ending. It should end in a positive note like either they got some good job in chennai itself or they return to their village and did some agriculture or something and lead a happy life. This is also a real life ending which enables the society to look at their life in a more positive approach.
Im not telling this is the way it should end. It is one of the possible endings. Since this is an ongoing issue, I feel it needs positive treatment and not a negative ending.
Kollywood is known for its 'Love and Love Only' movie theme. Anyone who follows the montonous repetitive romance based action / sentiment Kollywood movies for years , must long for a change now. Its time, Filmmakers should create new formulas and ideas.Thats what is needed. Congrats to Vasantha Balan for achieving to some extent.
"VEEDU" & "SANTHIYA RAAGAM" were the perfect real life movies , directed by the legend "BaluMahendra".He is a master in dealing with real life genres with hollywood standard. I dont know, why he's not directing movies now-a-days. Really missing his movies. If you see in hollywood, directors like Clint Eastwood, who is now 70+ (i think) , still directing movies of oscar worth. Dont know why tamil movie directors are avoiding after certain point of time.
Still miles to go before we sleep.
What i enjoyed most is : I watched this movie in online itself (which I mostly tend to avoid). Im happy to save some money here.
I strongly expect some movie should come in future, showcasing the harsh realities of this movie piracy. May be at that time, people like me will stop watch movies on online. Hope i'll write a review for that movie too.
Until then, sites like 'TamilJothy.com', 'Movielanka.com' and etc. will survive and keep uploading movies for me towatch.
