ENTHIRAN -- REVIEW
Truly a Landmark movie in Indian Cinema History. Whatever the excitement & anxiety about this movie , I can sense , it would have been the similar feeling when first Indian movie with sound (or) music came into existence during those days when there were only silent movies. 'Enthiran' now marks the emergence of Indian Cinema into SCI-FI ACTION movie genre which we saw only in hollywood movies.
Noone in india would have dreamt of SCI-FI genre movie to be made by a fellow Indian director and that too by Tamizhan. Many Thanks to Shankar and Producers have made this dream a reality. Still i can't imagine how they made a movie equivalent to Hollywood movie..May be im still dreaming in limbo state or something, like in 'Inception'.
First of all.. for the first time, we are seeing new Rajni and he is really ACTING without any punch dialogues after many decades.This is the important feature that raises the movie quality. Thalaivar is very much fluent in VILLAIN role reminding me of '16 Vayathinile' Rajni. May be they should have persisted with his VILLAIN role to the entire length of the movie.Definitely, it would have created still more uproaring waves among public. Ofcourse GRAPHICS and Visual effects adds more color to this movie.
Okay, coming to Story and screenplay handled by Shankar. Movie is a copy of 'Bicentennial Man' (1999) starred 'Robin Williams'.Shankar had been working on this script for 10 years , now you got the idea, on what he was working for these many days. Also, most of the location settings, action sequences were similar to the hollywood movies like "THE ISLAND", "MATRIX", "TRANSFORMER", "TERMINATOR", "SLEEPER" and may be more ... What shankar did for this movie other than copying.? Answer is, he has intelligently converted all these movies to a much simpler script catering to the tastes of an average Indian Cinema goer. His Hardwork and optimistic perception deserves hearty appreciations. He has done the job with 200% perfection.Really this man has the real burning desire in him. But still , i feel much more Grip and Tight screenplayyy might have added still more interesting.
It is a known fact, GENIOUS do plagiarisms. Tell me, Who has not done? For example, Quentin Tarantio's 'KILL BILL' is an exact replica of old JAPANESE movie, 'LADY SNOWBLOOD'; WOODY ALLEN for most of his movies, has taken references from the Sweedish director, Inger Bergmann , in one of the interview, he himself accepts and gives a list from where and all he had shamelessly lifted.. Even our one and only kollywood's GODFATHER, KAMALHASSAN's most of his movies (GUNA, MAHANADHI, ANBE SIVAM, THENALI, PKS, AVVAI SHANMUGHI, NAYAGAN, PANCHATHANTHIRAM) were all taken from hollywood movies only. So, everthing becomes legal in the movie making art.
RAHMAN's music adds pep to movie. But still his Magic and energetic tunes were really missing... Nevertheless, our Oscar winner had supported Kollywood director in whatever possibilties and situation he was into.
ICE -- AIS -- scintillating performance.. Prabhu Deva's choreography becomes evident in Chitti dance... AIS and Rajni ROCKS in CHITTI dance !!
Movie caters to both Indian as well as to International audience. Think, very few Tamizh movies have came with world class standards. Enthiran is one such movie which will be the pride of every Tamizhan living throughout the world.
For people (like me) who already watched sci-fi action movies and not really interested in that genre , enthiran is just another movie in the
list.
For people who haven't seen any sci-fi action movies and realy got fascinated by the idea, for them .. movie is an epic !!
For people (like me) who likes to see RAJNI alone, movie will be an ULTIMATE GEM !!
